Burr Rites Are Friday.

Rufus Burr, 88, 1321 W. Colorado Ave., died late Tuesday night in the Winfield hospital.

He was born April 4, 1885, in Vernon County, Mo., to John Wesley Burr and Mary Jane Beckley Burr. He was reared in Missouri, later moving to Arkansas City. He retired from the New Era Milling Co., after over 38 years service.

Survivors include his widow of the home, Wilma Tomblin Burr, five sons, Arthur of 823 S. Second St., John and C.L. of Arizona, Jack of Geuda Springs and Aaron of Oklahoma City, two step-sons, George Tomblin of the home and Jack B. Tomblin of Enid, Okla., four daughters, Mrs. Garland (Wilma) Cunningham of Plummerville, Ark., Mrs. Harold (Alice) Lowrie of Mulvane, Mrs. Fred (Mary) Wolf of Rt. 1 and Mrs. Bill (Ruth) Sumpter of Wichita, one step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Prendergast of Allen Park, Mich., one sister, Mrs. Maggie Dozer of Haleyville, Okla,, 37 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Kester, three sisters, Mrs. Eva Mathis, Mrs. Golie Loving and Mrs. Mary Mae Barrier, one granddaughter and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Rindt Memorial chapel with burial in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
