Donnybrook Pioneer Dies
Valentine Bott Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 2 p.m., from the Moravian church at Aurelia, for Valentine Bott, who homesteaded in Ree township in 1901. Mr. Bott had been in failing health since December 1953, following a stroke and had been bedridden since November 1956.
Death occurred Thursday morning, June 18, at his farm home, the same farm he homesteaded.
Ned Williams, was the officiating pastor, Mrs. Clarence Wirtz was organist and Mrs. Lloyd Rockeman and Mrs. Alfred Nott, vocalists. Honorary bearers were August Rockeman, Anton Knudtson, Matt Lee, L.W. Wieman, Wm. F. Grabow, Ray Stockdill, Carl Feldner, Jacob Bintz, Art McKinzie, Herman Larson, John Nelson, Clarence Johnson and Otto Norgard. Active bearers were Floyd Schwede, Herbert Schwede, Raymond Schwede, Herman Schwede, DeForest Schwede and Theo. Borchardt.
Interment was made in the Moravian Cemetery at Aurelia, with the Ringen funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Deceased was the son of Valentine and Louisa Bott and was born at Lamberton, Minn., November 16, 1873. He grew to manhood there and on Nov. 23, 1898, was married to Emma W.A.A. Schwede of Oak Creek, Wis. Mr. Bott was the last survivor of a family of 12 children, six brothers and five sisters having preceded him in death.
He is survived by his widow, five sons and two daughters. The children are Earnie, pastor of the E.U.B. church at Reed Point, Mont.; Valentine Jr., Dunseith; Roy, at home; Mrs. Clarence (Mabel) Moseng, Benedict; Mrs. Bill (Florence) Haidle, Fallon, Mont.; Abner, Pocatello, Idaho; Arthur, Donnybrook.
There are 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.
