Mother had a stroke in 1998, came to live with me (Dorthy) as she recovered. She eventually went back to her home (she had bought out her siblings interest in her mother's place in Stephenville, Texas). My brother Joe saw about taking care of the place (yard mowed, etc.). One day after the mowers left Mother decided she needed to go out to lock the gates - why? No one knows. She fell over a large tree trunk and could not get up. Apparently she laid out there for some hours. We kids called her in the evenings to check on her, but none of us got an answer. Joe and Jerrie hopped in their car and sped to Stephenville. They heard mother screaming in the back and went to check on her. She was admitted to the hospital, then transferred to Kindred Rehab hospital in Fort Worth. She was then transferred to the Huguley Nursing facility. Joe was visiting with her one morning when she was taken to Physical Therapy. She was standing, and he says she suddenly grabbed her chest, fell back and was gone. Her leaving left a hole in the family that cannot be filled, but we know today she is having a wonderful time at the great reunion in heaven, and singing and praising the Lord. She lived her entire life getting ready for that great homecoming.

The Wright family lived in Lipan, Texas. Lou attended and played basketball for Lipan High School. She also participated in homemaking and the homemaking club. After her dad passed away it was difficult for the family. Mother left high school lacking 1/2 credit to graduate. She later got her GED and then attended Tarrant County College.

Lou married Joseph Henry (known as Henry) Kilgore, Jr. on May 31, 1941, in Sweetwater, Texas. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Lou worked at several occupations thru the years. She was a seamstress at Williamson Dickies, worked in the school cafeteria while her children were growing up, but for the most of her life she worked as a certified nurses assistant. Her favorite shift was graveyard, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Lucile was also a self-taught pianist and the piano and singing were the two great loves of her life. Although she and Henry divorced 8/20/1970, they remarried in August 1972. Henry was a Baptist preacher, Lucile was a church pianist. Although they separated again in 1988, they loved each other all their lives. Their fiery temperaments would not allow them to stay together. Together they had three children: Joseph Marvin, Gerald David, and Dorthy Lucile (that's me, author of this bio).

The Wright family, including Mother, is buried just to the left of the large Evergreen trees at the entrance to the cemetery.
