Velma M. Hopkin was born February 18, 1916 in Bellwood, Nebraska to Frank and Anna (Seidel) Bock Sr. She grew up in the Bellwood area where she received her education. She married Bennie L. Hopkin on January 13, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Omaha before returning to the Bellwood area. Along with raising her family she also worked at B-D Medical Supply and babysat for many area families. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bellwood.
