The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Patrick Sparling and Rev. Peter Jurchen officiating. Interment with military honors by The American Legion, Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard, will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are those of the family or donor's choice.
Roy Bock was born April 11, 1924, in Butler County, Nebraska, to Frank and Anna (Siedel) Bock, Sr. He attended Bellwood rural school District #13. On December 24, 1942, Roy was united in marriage to Mary Hoeft at the Immanuel Lutheran parsonage in Columbus. To this union five children were born – David, Jean Kay, Robert, Carol, and Tom. They farmed in the Bellwood area until Roy entered the United States Army Air Corps on February 21, 1945. He served nine months in Japan before his honorable discharge on January 5, 1946. Upon his discharge, Roy settled in Bellwood and went to worked for Gerhold Concrete, Soil Movers, Behlen Manufacturing, and retired from Dale Electronics. They moved to Columbus in 1951.
Roy was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, and Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Roy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
