Pete was employed by Statesboro Grocery, Brooks Instrument (which changed to Emerson Electric), ITT Grinnell, Ingram Farm Supply, Brooklet Feed and Seed and Bulloch County Recycling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves, serving for many years. Pete enjoyed working outdoors with flowers and was particularly happy when he was able to freeze vegetables for the winter. He also enjoyed activities involving his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Montez Royal Brannen of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Pete Brannen Jr. and Marie of Sylvania; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Elizabeth B. Crawford and Chuck Crawford of Statesboro; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Nicole "Nikki" Crawford and Kathryn-Anne "Katie" Danyel Crawford of Statesboro and Macie Alexandria Brannen of Sylvania; two grandsons, Cliff Crawford of Savannah and Mark Snell of Sylvania; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Annilee "Lizzie" Crawford of Statesboro; a sister, Lila Dell Freeman of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Mary Maude Brannen of Statesboro; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Brannen, Annabel Banks and Shirley Brannen; a brother-in-law, Larry Dodson of LaFayette, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Lavonne Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Brooklet City Cemetery.
