Earl Edwin Fairchild was in Wilkes County, North Carolina on Nov. 26, 1925 and is the Son of Archie Bell Fairchild and Bessie Ila Dancy Fairchild. Earl is the oldest of five children and the oldest Son born to his parents. His siblings are: Robert Paul, James Stewart, Charlie Frank Fairchild and Virginia Dare Fairchild Brafford.

Earl married Doris Novella Marley in September 1945 in Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, North Carolina. They are the parents of Charles Edwin (1947-1951), Barbara Jean, Sue Ann, and Jerry Dean Fairchild.

Earl spent his early years living in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina until his parents moved their little family to High Point, North Carolina seeking work for his father during the Great Depression. His father found work in a hosiery mill were he worked for several years before he moved his family back to the Champion-Mount Pleasant community in Western Wilkes Country where they took up farming, raising chickens and a few head of cattle. Their family lived in the Champion-Mount Pleasant community in the area called Red Top. Earl's parents also ran a small country store on the edge of their property. Earl's grandfather Jessie Abijah Fairchild lived just up the road from his parents farm on the old Fairchild home place. Earl and his brothers helped their parents run the farm until they were adults and left home.

Eleven days after Earl turned 16 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the United States of American entered World War II. As soon as Earl turned 18 he joined the United States Navy and went to war. He spent the rest of the war serving on a ship that saw action in the South Pacific. Earl returned home from the war unharmed.

When Earl returned home after the war he married Doris Novella Marley on September 15, 1945, in Wilkesboro, Wilkes, North Carolina. Earl worked all of his adult life at Carolina Mirror in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He still worked there at the time of his death on March 18, 1982.

Earl was precede in death by his son, Charles Edwin Fairchild, his mother Bessie Ila Dancy Fairchild, his baby brother Charlie Frank Fairchild and all of his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife Doris, 2 daughters; Barbara Jean (Roger) Absher, Sue Ann (Ricky) Keys and 1 son Jerry Dean (Suzanne) Fairchild; his Grandchildren; his Father, Archie Bell Fairchild; 2 Brothers, Robert Paul (Ruth) Fairchild, James Stewart (Wilma) Fairchild and 1 Sister, Virginia Dare Fairchild (Ray) Brafford and several nephews.

Earl is buried at Davis Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery next to his son Charles Edwin Fairchild, his mother Bessie Ila Dancy Fairchild and baby brother Charlie Frank Fairchild.
