Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6, at the Mill Creek Friends church for William A. Vannice, age 84, who died on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the home of his son, Carl Vannice, near Amo. Burial was in Mill Creek Friends cemetery. He had been in failing health since Thanksgiving.
Mr. Vannice was born August 29, 1857, the son of William H. and Mary Vannice. He was married on his birthday, August 19, 1883 to Hattie Dickerson, who passed on five years ago, since which time he made his home with his son and his son's family near Amo.
He was the grandson of Peter C. Vannice, one of the three first settlers in Marion township in Hendricks county.
Mr. and Mrs. Vannice were the parents of four children: one daughter, Mamie, died in girlhood; two sons, Ray and Clay died within a week of influenza in 1918; and Carl of Amo. Two grandchildren also survive.
