Harper M. Black, 82, of HCR 73, Three Springs, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in Conemaugh Valley Hospital, Johnstown.

Born Nov. 8, 1911, in Taylor Township, Fulton County, he was a son of the late Charles and Edna (McClain) Black.

He was twice married: first t Nancy Lavilla Cook, who died July 24, 1982; then to Marie Miller.

Surviving is his wife, at their home; three children: 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, Also surviving are 10 stepchildren, Surviving, too, are four brothers and sisters..

Preceding him in death were three sons, Harper Black Jr. ad two infants, three brothers, and one sister.

Mr. Black was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of the Nazarene, Waterfall R.D.

He was also a life member of the Hustontown Volunteer Fire Company.

During most of his life, Mr. Black was a farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown.

Interment will be in Center Cemetery, Hustontown R.D.

Friends may call at the funeral home today (Monday), from 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services.

Memorial contributions, in remembrance of Harper M. Black, may be given to the American Heart Association.
