Sylvia O. Shaw, 91, of Bedford, formerly of Everett, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Donahoe Manor. She was born May 1, 1915, in Waterfall, a daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Berkstresser) Black.
She was first married to Theron Mills and he preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1950. She then married Robert Shaw, who preceded her in death on July 20, 1980. She is survived by her children; two step daughters: nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Gail Hanks, five brothers and one sister. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the First Christian Church, Everett, where she attended the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. She was employed at Cove Valley Restaurant on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as a cook until her retirement in April of 1977. She also worked as a cook for the Everett School District and as a waitress at Holiday Inn in Breezewood. She was a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Frey of Greencastle; Eldon Mills and wife, Audrey (Snyder) Mills of Everett; Robert "Bob" Mills and wife Loeta (Snyder) Mills of Marion; two step daughters: Maureen Bromwell of Bedford and Sandy Miller of Bedford; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sistr, Leta Feight of Waterfall.

She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Gail Hanks, five brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Shaw was a member of the First Christian Church, Everett, where she attended the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Everett, with the Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating.

Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Church from noon until the hour of service.

Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Waterfall.

If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Shaw to the Center Methodist Church, Waterfall, Pa., 16689.
