Bowers had been ill approximately two years.
Military rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at chapel No. 3 at Sheppard Air Force base at Wichita Falls.
The son of Chester and Susie Bowers, he was born at Perry, Oct. 23, 1930, and attended Noble county rural schools.
He and the former Margie Vance of Perry were married Aug. 21, 1949, at Red Rock. Bowers joined the Air Force in March, 1952 and retired in July, 1972. After his retirement from military service, he worked as a paint contractor.
Bowers and his family were frequent visitors in the Perry community. He and his daughters in past years performed musical programs at Cherokee Strip celebration programs in the courthouse park.
In addition to Mrs. Bowers, of the home, 209 South Avenue B, lot 23, Burkburnett, survivors include sons-in-laws and daughters, Lyle and Denise Johnson, San Juan, Puerto Rico; Dr. Jonathan and Michelle Schnitker, Temple, Texas; and Suzanne Siefkas and Janelle Bowers, both of Burkburnett; a granddaughter, Kelly Siefkas, Burkburnett; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Hughes, and Mrs. Myrtle Brewster, both of Perry ; and Mrs. Wayne (Doris) Speer, Morrison; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bowers, Perry; and numerous other relatives in the Perry community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Susie Bowers, and a brother, Morris "Moke" Bowers.
