Chester Bowers, 63, long-time resident of the Sumner area, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday in Perry Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

Bowers was born Sept. 6, 1893, in Payne county. He was married Nov. 26, 1917, in Perry, to the former Susie Ewy, who survives. A veteran of military service in World War I, he was a member of the Sumner Christian church.

After living many years in the Sumner vicinity, he moved last week from his home, five miles east of Perry, to 1300 Delaware.

Rev. Walter Rosebrough, pastor of the Sumner Christian church, will officiate at last rites and burial will be in the Sumner cemetery under direction of the Newton funeral home. Pallbearers will be Emil Wagner, George Will, William Ritthaler, Tom Brandon, John Beasley and Jim Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Susie, of the home in Perry; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Hughes, Perry; Mrs. Wayne Speer, Morrison; and Mrs. Jack Brewster, Jacksboro, Texas; two sons, Morris Bowers, Perry; and Donald Bowers, airman first class serving with the U.S. Air Force in France; 12 grandchildren; and four brothers, Harry Bowers, Walter Bowers and Van Bowers, Perry; and Paul Bowers, Ceres, Calif.
