Lyle Eugene Carnicle, 84, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, died on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.

He was born on July 4, 1926, the son of William and Margaret (Hines) Carnicle.

He was raised on a farm and educated in the Strawberry Point area.

On May 27, 1949, Lyle was united in marriage to Doris Baumgartner in Dubuque. Two children were born to this union. Lyle was employed at the Quarries in surrounding Strawberry Point area for 47 years until his retirement.

Lyle loved his family and enjoyed horses, fishing for trout, and antique tractors.

Survivors include his two children, Roger Carnicle of Cedar Rapids and Linda (John) Quam of Elma; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Bowers and Gloria (Don) Burns both of Council Bluffs.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on March 2, 2007; his parents; four sisters, Helen, JoAnn, Doris, and Grace; and three brothers, Gary, Carroll, and Bobby.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. November 15, 2010 at Emanuel Lutheran Church-Strawberry Point, Iowa. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the church.
