Doris was born May 16, 1932, in rural Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of John and Ina (Fliehler) Baumgartner. She was raised and educated in the area attending school locally.
Doris was united in marriage to Lyle Carnicle on May 27, 1949, at Dubuque. Two children were born to this union. Since 1952, Doris and Lyle have resided in Strawberry Point. Doris worked 26 years at Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She has worked the past fourteen years at the Berry Tender Childcare in Strawberry Point.
Doris Elaine Carnicle, 74, of Strawberry Point, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 2, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. She was 74 years of age. Doris was a long time member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and making crafts for the daycare.
Survivors include her husband Lyle Carnicle of Strawberry Point; one son, Roger of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Linda (John) Quam of Elma; six grandchildren, Mike, Jodi and Travis Quam; Paul, Sherrie and Miranda Carnicle; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Haley Carnicle; two brothers, Keith (Evelyn) Baumgartner of Strawberry Point and Floyd (Kay) Baumgartner of Arlington; and one sister, Sharyl (Wayne) Thurn of Edgewood.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Edward, Robert and Daryl Baumgartner.
