Obituary for Elin Randine Nilsen Borup (1851-1917)
Ellen Randine Borup, who died Sunday, January 14, 1917, at her home near Trade River, Wisconsin, after almost four years of illness, was born April 9, 1851, at Mo Prastegald, Halgeland, Norway. The funeral was held Thursday, January 18th at the St. Olaf's Church and interment was made in St. Olaf's cemetery. Rev. O. Riswold of North Valley, WI, and Rev. Theo. Danielson officiated. The pall bearers were Gust Hoffman, August Anderson, Gust Borup, Gust Hedman, John Granquist and Torget Hulbak. The deceased came to this country in the year 1880,and in 1885 was married to John Borup. Her husband, four children, three sisters and three brothers remain to mourn her departure. The children are Mrs. John Ramstad of Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., MN, Christian, Josie and Olof at home. The sisters are Mrs. JensineLarson of Cheyenne, WY, Mrs. John Larson of Spicer, MN, and Mrs. Peder Greenfield of Pennock, MN. The brothers are Ole and Peter Nelson of Grantsburg, WI, and Nels Nelson of Duluth, St. Louis Co., MN. Relatives at the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. John Ramstad, Minneapolis; Nels Nelson, Duluth; Mrs. Gertrude Borup, St. Paul; and Charles Borup, Lindstrom, MN. Those who gave flowers at the funeral were: a pillow, by the family; spray, Mrs. John Ramstad; spray, Mrs.Mary Swanson; spray, Mrs. Gertrude Borup and children; spray, Mrs.Jensine Larson and Peder Nelson and family; spray, David Olson; spray, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Hoffman; spray, Yeomen of Grantsburg.
