Nannie Kate Cobler Jamison, 95, of Route 2, Box 402, Martinsville, died Friday, April 18, 1997, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville in Henry County.
Born on August 28, 1901, in Franklin County, VA., she was a daughter of the late John Edward Cobler and Mollie Merriman Cobler. She was a longtime member and the oldest member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where she also was a member of the Ella Craig Bible Class and a charter member of the Methodist Womens Group. She was presented a Life Membership pin of the Womens Group in 1968.
Mrs. Jamison was a charter member of Pleasant Grove Homemakers Club and the Community Improvement Club.
She also was a longtime member of the Snow Creek Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Jamison on January 16, 1958; by a son, James Lewis Jamison on August 28, 1944; by a brother, Willie S. Cobler, and by three grandsons, John Jamison, on October 21, 1994, Robert Jamison, on January 6, 1995, and Baby Jamison.
Mrs. Jamison is survived by four sons, John Pete Jamison, Robert Edgar Jamison, Ray Cobler Jamison and David Randolph Jamison all of Martinsville; a brother, Abraham L. Cobler of Martinsville; a sister, Mrs. Clara C. Gryzt of Martinsville; nine grandchildren, Sandra Pulliam, Sheila Jamison, Jimmy Jamison, Vanessa Riddle, David Jamison, Lisa Holcomb, Pamela Jamison, Jeannie Carpenter and Lynn Grindstaff, and nine great-grandchildren, Blake Holcomb, Beth Holcomb, Rebecca Carpenter, Jamie Jamison, Julie Jamison, Josey Jamison, Kati Grindstaff, Katelyn Riddle and Kyle Grindstaff.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jamison will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 1997, at Norris Funeral Services Chapel by the Rev. Steve Propst. Burial will be in the JAMISON Family Cemetery AT FIGSBORO. The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and other times at the home of a son, John Pete Jamison, Figsboro Road, Martinsville.
