One man is dead from injuries received and another lies in a serious condition in the Shackelford Hospital today, following a bad automobile accident which occurred last evening abut six o'clock on the public road near Irisburg, leading towards Martinsville. Roy Young, the most seriously hurt of the four occupants of the ill-fated machine, a large Studebaker Touring car equipped with a truck body, died a few minutes after being brought to the local hospital, his body being so bruised and crushed, being injured internally, that there was no hope for the unfortunate man. James Hundley of Martinsville, another occupant of the car, received such serious injuries that he was taken to the hospital for examination and treatment - he was very badly hurt.
Ernest Hundley, driver of the car, and a son of James Hundley, and Henry Clay Cobbler, were the other occupants of the car, who escaped with minor injuries. The big Studebaker headed towards Martinsville and while rounding a sharp curve, one of the front wheels came off, throwing the car out of the road. Roy Young was 31 years of age, and is survived by his father, Jennings Young, who lives on the edge of Franklin County, between Figsboro and Sydnorsville. An older brother survives, as well as a sister, who is Mrs. Walter Parcell of Broad Street, this city.
