Walter Beito, son of Gilbert and Sophie (Underdahl) Beito, was born March 16, 1917 near Strathcona, He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school in that area.
He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, from April 1942 to March 1946. He returned to Strathcona and worked as a pulp cutter.
On December 31, 1949 he married Marie Christine Stahlberg. She passed away in 1964.
On July 16, 1969 he married Ida Murphy in Middle River.
He worked as a pulp cutter and later for Arctic Cat Enterprises and Hegstrom Brothers Construction, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by three sons, Peter, Mentor, Gary, Newfolden, and Timothy, Thief River Falls; two daughters, Arlene (Mrs. Stuart) Hanson, Warroad, and Audry Burda, Thief River Falls; 16 grandchildren; four brothers, Gilman, Montana, Elwood and Harry, both of Strathcona, and Arne, Wannaska; Two sisters, Alice Taus, Climax, and Moreen Barr, Spokane, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie; and his wife, Ida; One son, Paul, in 1993; his parents; two sisters, Gladys and Lillie; and four brothers, Lenny, Marvin, Palmer and Gerald.
Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of arrangements.
