Mrs. Elizabeth Sabel, 87, formerly of Mount Calvary, died Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 1978, at Villa Loretto Nursing Home, Mount Calvary, where she resided for three months. She was born July 11, 1890, at Mount Calvary, a daughter of the late John and Mary Dietzen Schaefer. She was married to Edward J. Sabel on June 8, 1915, at Mount Calvary. The couple farmed in the Mount Calvary area for 30 years and resided in Mount Calvary since 1945. Mrs. Sabel was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church at Mount Calvary, Christian Mothers Society and Third Order of St. Francis. Survivors include a son, Leander of Route 6: three daughters, Mrs. Clarence J. (Bernetta) Schmitz of Route 1, Malone, Mrs. Clarence H. (Alfrieda) Schmitz of Route 2, Malone, and Mrs. Henry (Julitta) Bertram of Route 1. Mount Calvary; 14 grand- children; and 20 great- grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. George (Julia) Schmitz of Route 2, Malone, Mrs. William (Agnes) Kraus and Sister Gaspard, SSND, both of Mount Calvary; and two brothers, Frank and Henry Schaefer both of Route 1, Mount Calvary. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958, and by a sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Huss Funeral Home, St. Cloud, and at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Mount Calvary. The Rev. Rupert Dorn will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Sabel will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
