Joseph Schaefer, 81, Rt.2, of Marytown died Tuesday night at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, after a lingering illness.
A son of the late John and Mary Dietzen Schaefer, he was born July 12, 1890 at Mount Calvary.

On November 24, 1914, he married the former Anna Schoenborn in Marytown and the couple farmed there for 46 years. Mrs. Schaefer died in 1969.

He was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Marytown, and its Holy Name Society.

He is survived by four sons: Erwin of Marytown, Edwin of School Hill, Gilbert of North Fond du Lac, and Wilfred of Fond du Lac; three daughers, Mrs. Frank (Helen)Schad, School Hill, Mrs. Robert(Esther)Schad of Marytown, and Mrs. Ambrose(Erma)Ramminger, New Holstein; two brothers, Frank and Henry, Mount Calvary; four sisters; Mrs. Elizabeth Sabel, Mrs. William Kraus, and Sister M. Gasper all of Mount Calvary and Mrs. George Schmitz of St. Peter; thirty-one grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son,two brothers and a sister.

A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, in Marytown, the Rev. John Rausch, pastor, celebrant. Mass will be preceded by burial rites at 10 a.m. at the Erbe-Evjen Funereal Home in New Holstein. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday, after 4 p.m. at the funeral home where the Rosary will be said at 8 p.m.
