Area Native Dies; Church Service is Set
Edward Schaefer, 67; St. Mary's Funeral Rites Slated
Edward M. Schaefer, 67, a resident of 173 Ledgeview Ave., died Monday night at his home. His death was unexpected.
Born Sept. 2, 1898, in Mt. Calvary, he was the son of John and Mary Dietzen Schaefer. He married Leona Petrie May 11, 1938, at St. Joseph's Church, St. Joe. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, city, and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Patt, Mrs. Lester Rieder and Miss Mary Agnes Schaefer, all at home; three grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph, Marytown, and Frank and Henry Mt. Calvary; and four sisters, Mrs. Ed Sabel and Mrs. William Kraus, Mt. Calvary, Mrs. George Schmitz, St. peter, and Sr. M. Gaspard, harbor Springs, Mich. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Rev. John Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Edward M. Schaefer, who died Monday, were held at 8:30 a.m. today at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Rev. Roger A. Zens officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marvin Petrie, Clem Petrie, David Sabel, Alphonse Buechel, Francis Schaefer and Kenneth Schaefer.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Robert Patt and Mrs. Lester Rieder, city, and Mary Agnes, at home.
