William H. Brodersen, 80 of Olin, died on Saturday, July 27, 1996 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness.
William was born June 8, 1916 in Hale Township near Olin, the son of Thomas and Elva Alden Brodersen.
William graduated from Wyoming High School in 1933 and on April 17, 1940 he married Frances Gerdes at Anamosa. William and Frances farmed at Olin, until retiring and moving into Olin in 1973.
William was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wyoming; was past Master and 50 year member of the A.F. and A.M. Zealous Masonic Lodge #435, of Oxford Junction; was a member of the Farm Bureau where he had served 4 years on the Extension Board and was an active volunteer for the Wyoming Horse Show for many years.
William is survived by his wife, Frances, two daughters, Sharon Lindbloom and husband David, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Sarah Carnes and husband Duane of Olin; one son, John Brodersen and wife, Sandra, of Olin; nine grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Betz, of Salines, California and one brother-in-law Ron Harness of Grandview, Missouri.
William is preceded in death by his parents and one sister and one brother-in-law.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 Monday afternoon, July 29, 1996 at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin with Rev. Edmond Powers officiating.
Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery. Masonic Services were conducted at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Hayden Funeral Home by the Zealous Masonic Lodge #435 of Oxford Junction.
Casket bearers were Bruce Lindbloom, Keith Tallman, Aaron Tallman, Kevin Osterkamp, Greg Gerdes and Lavern Cruise.
