Jean R. Harness, 75, of Grandview, formerly of Clarence, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 22, 1994, at Research Belton Medical Center in Belton, Missouri, following a long illness.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa, with the Rev. Leila Blackburn officiating. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Jean Roberta Brodersen was born April 25, 1918, in Jones County, the daughter of Thomas and Elva (Alden) Brodersen. She married Dale Lewis Miller in 1939. Dale preceded her in death on October 21, 1948. She married Ronald William Harness on May 13, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas. She worked as an accountant for K.C. Mortgage Company in Kansas City, Missouri, until she retired in 1975. She and Ronald had lived in Grandview since 1957, where Ronald was serving in the U.S. Air Force, until he retired in 1977. She was a member of St. Matthew Presbyterian Church in Grandview, the Order of Eastern Star in Grandview and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Clarence, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald; one sister, Ruth Betz of Camarillo, CA; one brother, William (Frances) Brodersen of Olin, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and one brother-in-law, Ralph Betz.
