She was born in Nelson County on April 13, 1900, a daughter of the late George P. and Ida Harvey Fitzgerald. She was the wife of the late William Lurty Diehl, who died Jan. 16, 1958.
Survivors include one son, William A. Diehl; two daughters, Isabelle D. Welcher and Louise R. Diehl, all of Stuarts Draft; five grandchildren, W. Hansford Diehl, E. Ray Diehl, and Roger L. Welcher, all of Stuarts Draft, H. Wayne Welcher of Mt. Crawford, and Janet W. Cook of Elkton and 10 great-grandchildren, Mrs. John (Rita) Diehl Burmester of Hampton, Ricky W. Diehl of Williamsburg, W. Mitchell Diehl, R. Gregory Diehl, Michael D. Diehl, David J. Welcher, Brian T. Welcher and Matthew L. Welcher, all of Stuarts Draft and H. Wayne Welcher Jr. and Cecil P. Welcher, both of Mt. Crawford; one great-great grandson, J. Christopher Burmester of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren, conducted by the Rev. Clyde E. Hylton, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mitchell Diehl, Rickey Diehl, Greg Diehl, Mike Diehl, H. W. Welcher and David Welcher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert Johnson, John Burmester, Harvey Fitzgerald, Robert Fitzgerald, Thomas Fitzgerald, Dr. John W. Forbes III, Samuel Fauber, J. D. Whitesell, Russell Dean Sr., Earl Fitzgerald, Jake Lightner, Henry Appl, Earl Houff, Gary Killingsworth and David Killingsworth.
The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home and at other times in her residence.
