STUARTS DRAFT-Mrs. Nellie Catherine Brooks, 75, died Monday at 5:35 p.m. in King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was born Jan. 29, 1890, in Montebello, a daughter of the late George P. and Ida Florence Harvey Fitzgerald. Her husband, George Crawford Brooks preceded her in death in March of 1964.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of Calvary Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. Homer (Elizabeth) Fretwell, at home, Mrs. Robert L. (Agnes) Fainter of Stuarts Draft and Mrs. Jake (Catherine) Henderson of Winchester; four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Diehl of Waynesboro, Mrs. Chester Fitzgerald and Mrs. Ernest Almarode, both of Stuarts Draft, and Mrs. Ida Diehl of Washington, D. C.; four brothers, Arthur P. Fitzgerald of Washington, D. C., Levi Fitzgerald of Crozet, Frank Fitzgerald of Scottsville and Clancy T. Fitzgerald of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, when it will be placed in Calvary Methodist Church for funeral services at 4 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles H. Walton and the Rev. Paul R. Barnhart. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 8 to 9 tonight.
Active pallbearers will be William Black, Ward L. Cohron, Oliver Engleman, Melvin Eavers, Charles Comer and Harry Arehart.
Honorary bearers will be Moffett Black, Ralph Weaver, Frank Fitzgerald, Leroy Almarode, G. T. Almarode, Ray Diehl, Hansford Diehl, Chester Fitzgerald, George Fitzgerald, Bernard Fitzgerald, Wayne Brooks, Clarence Brooks, Wesley Brooks, Theron Benson, George Benson, E. H. Brooks Jr., Dr. Franklin Fitzgerald, Dr. J. G. Crawford and J. W. Hartman Jr.
