Rev. Vernon B. Curless, our hero in the faith, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 29, 2010. Vernon, also known as V.B., was born January 30, 1915 in Hutchinson, KS, one of nine children of Charles and Flossie (Barnes) Curless. He graduated from Breese Nazarene College. Vernon was an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazaene, and pastored churches for more than six decades. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Matilda Friesen Curless; daughter, Carol Tosti; two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Peacher (Harry); brother, Alvin Curless; sister, Viola Darbyshire; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, follow- ed by his funeral service at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 2, at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 4330 North Oak, Kansas City, MO. Burial at Green Lawn Cemetery. You may honor Vernon's memory with a donation to the church. Arrangements: Park Lawn Northland Chapel (816) 781-8228.
