Alvin B. Curless, 77, of Topeka, passed away March 15, 2013 at Midland Hospice House. He was born at Burrton, Kansas to Charles and Flossie (Barnes) Curless on June 27, 1935. He was the youngest of nine children. He grew up in the Hutchinson, Kansas area and joined the Army where he served during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He retired from the Army in 1971 as a Sgt. 1st Class. He was a volunteer correctional chaplain in Topeka and a Meals On Wheels volunteer. He loved fishing and traveling. He visited 49 states and had planned to visit Alaska. He loved life.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; his daughter, Diana Meeker; three step-daughters, Susan (Darren) Davenport, Carolyn (David) Ohmes, Kimberly (Damon) Holford; one grandson, Alex; six step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren, all of Topeka; one sister, Viola Darbyshire, of Mt. Hope, KS.

A memorial service will be held at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene on March 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM. with visitation to be held for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Riley at a later date.
