Sinking Spring, Sept. 26 (Special) - William J. Johnston, borough businessman and former town councilman, died at his home, 242 Hull Street, of complications. He was aged 53 years and 6 days. Deceased was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Schlegel) Johnston. There survive his widow, Eva [Ada] S. (High); four brothers and four sisters, George, Fritztown; Joseph, Lincoln Park; John, Alleghenyville; Howard, Harrisburg; Agnes, wife of Adam Sweimler, this borough; Mary, wife of David Hiddle, Norristown; Laura, wife of George Bickel, this place; Bertha, Sinking Spring R.D.

Mr. Johnston was engaged for a number of years in the wholesale and retail food and produce business here. He served as a borough councilman and his advice on borough improvements was always eagerly sought. He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, this boorugh.

Funeral Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house. Services in St. John's Reformed Church, this borough, Rev. Thomas W. Rhodes officiating. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Funeral Director C.N. Lamm, Wernersville, has charge.
