Funeral services for Elizabeth J. "Betty" VanDeWoestyne, Silvis, Ill., will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, Ill. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. VanDeWoestyne died Saturday, September 16, 2006, at her home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church where she had been a member.
Elizabeth Stern was born December 1, 1928, in Lamberton, Minn., the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Kosel) Stern. She married Camiel "Mel" VanDeWoestyne January 25, 1947, in Rock Island. He died February 9, 1977.
Betty loved to bake and sew. She had been a seamstress most of her life, making all the clothes for her family and others as well. She had worked for Von Maur at Southpark Mall, Moline where she retired in 2004 after 17 years of service.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis VanDeWoestyne who died in October of 1967.
