Funeral services for Arlene Van Rycke, 92, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Van Rycke died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Arlene Stern was born October 4, 1922, in Lamberton, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth Kosel Stern. She married Charles Van Rycke October 31, 1943, in Kahoka, MO. She retired from Moline Public Hospital, and later worked for Beverly Manor, Moline. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo. She was loved by everyone. Survivors include her sons, Steve (Millie) Van Rycke, Davenport, IA, and James (Connie) Van Rycke, Colona, IL; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Doluge, Cape Corral, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Rosemary Sager and Patricia Smith; sisters, Leona Gunnerson, Bert Nelson, and Betty Vande Woestyne; brothers, Glen, Wilbert, Warren, and Herman Stern. Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, where she had been a member.
