Chris was the first child born to Herman and Mary Baalke. They lived a few years in Brown Co., Minnesota, until the family relocated to Hinsdale, Montana, where he grew to be a young man.
Chris and Dora Kissee were married on December 31, 1913, in Billings, Montana, where Dora had been living.
The couple moved to Ashland, Oregon, by 1948, where they were living at the time of their deaths.

"Born on 20, Nov 1885 in Springfield, Minnesota. in 1900 he came to Hinsdale, Montana with his family. he was 15 years old. He was of slight build and unable to do heavy farm work. He knew this and so he got all the schooling he could. He left Hinsdale as soon as he could to make room for the rest of the family. In 1909 he was in Laurel Montana, he was working in a store taking inventory of the stock in the store. He then went to Billings and worked for the National Biscuit Co. On 31 Dec 1913 he married Dora May Kissee in Billings. Chris and Dora left Billings and moved to Helena Montana where he was a telegraph operator. In 1940 the census they lived in Belfry, Carbon County Montana. In 1942 he registered for the draft in Ashland Oregon. Chris was Very thrifty almost Miserly. Chris and Dora never had children. Dora passed away 20, May 1977. Chris at the age 97 passed away 14 May 1982."
