It would appear that 3 young sons of Allen & Roxey died in the span of 3 months in the Autumn of 1837, only a few years after their arrival in Ripley Co, IN from Montgomery Co, VA.
~ Armsted died Oct 1837 aged 15y 3m,
~ William died Nov 1837, aged 18y 8m,
~ John N died Dec 1837, aged 17y 2m.

Violet Toph's transcription of Armsted's grave reads: "Armated Hutson died Oct 25, 1887, Aged 45y 3m"

CORRECTION

1) His name was more likely ArmSted not ArmAted. DNA has proven that this Allen Hutson line was related to Armsted Hutson, who was born VA, lived in TN, died in AR, and had a son named Allen.

2) I believe Armsted died Oct 1837 at the age of 15y 3m, not in 1887 at the age of 45y 3m. Why? - if Armsted had lived c.1842-1887, he would have been enumerated in 1850 (with parents), 1860, 1870, and 1880 - he was not.

It may be inferred these stones were in very poor condition when Miss Toph read them, which explains her transcribing 1837 as 1887, and 15 as 45.
