"Miss Martha Van Fossan, 52, of Boardman, was killed Friday evening when struck by a car while crossing Market Street extension at Melbourne Avenue. Born in Canfield, June 2, 1904, she was a daughter of John G. and Emma Weaver Van Fossan, and was a life resident of the area. Miss Van Fossan was a member of the Central Christian church, Youngstown, and had been associated with the D. A. Heindel Co., Youngstown automobile firm, for thirty years. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Michael Kinney and Mrs. Delphin Deemer, both of Youngstown, and a brother, Clyde Van Fossan of Columbiana."
