"Funeral services were held in Youngstown Saturday afternoon for John G. VanFossan, 76, of Columbiana, who died Wednesday in the S. S. unit of Youngstown hospital following a cerebral hemorrhage. Born Dec. 22, 1872, in Boardman township, Mr. Van Fossan was a son of John and Duretta Baker Van Fossan. He was a dairy farmer until he retired in 1939. He was a member of Paradise Reformed church. His wife, the former Emma Weaver, died in 1936. He later married Mary Jane White. Besides his wife, Mr. Van Fossan leaves a son, Clyde, of Columbiana; three daughters, Miss Martha Van Fossan and Mrs. Blanche Deemer, both of Youngstown, and Mrs. Edith Kinney of Canfield; four sisters, Mrs. Ora Ohl of Youngstown, Mrs. Emeline Peppel of Columbiana, Mrs Lou Hall of East Palestine, and Mrs. Maud Tessean of San Fernando, Calif; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild."
