Dell "Gordon" Snyder, son of William Kester Snyder and Della Amanda Snyder, was known all of his life as 'Gordon' or 'Shorty'. He was the youngest of seven children.

Gordon grew up in Bucklin, Kansas and graduated from Bucklin High School in 1926. He was very active in sports during his school years, winning many honors in track.
During the Second World War Gordon went to California where he worked in the navy ship yards.

Gordon married Vera Mary Hiett, daughter of Harvey Laben Hiett and Elsie Irene Astle, 12 Sep 1943 at Berkeley, Alameda County, California.

When World War II ended, Gordon and Vera returned to Kansas in May of 1945 to make Haven, Kansas their home. They had a farm and a beautiful large farmhouse, both of which were lost to a fire. Gordon then went to work for the Haven Board of Education and Vera taught school for the Haven Grade School. In 1952, they built a nice little home in Haven, built largely with their own hands. They lived there until their deaths.

Gordon was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Haven and the Haven United Methodist Church.

Surviving were his wife, Vera and two children… one son and one daughter.
