Edna Snyder, daughter of William Kester Snyder and Della Amanda Martin, was born in Liberty Township, Clark County, Kansas. She attended Liberty grade school and graduated from Bucklin, Kansas High School. She received a state Normal training certificate and taught school for six years prior to her marriage to John Dakin, son of Glodell Dakin and Carrie Fairclo, on 27 Mar 1926 at Medicine Lodge, Barber County, Kansas. John and Edna lived most of their married life in Ashland, Kansas. Following John's death in 1971, Edna moved to Scottsdale, Arizona.

She was active in Rainbow Girls and 4H. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society of Kansas, PSI PSI PSI Sorority, the Cow Belle Society, and the Presbyterian Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband and one son, John Lindley who died at birth in 1934. Surviving were two daughters (Virginia and Annette), five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on 20 Aug 1994 at the Highland Cemetery in Ashland.
