Mrs. Jones died in Dickerson Hospital in Jasper after a long illness. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Andrew Jones, on November 12, 1927, who was also descended from pioneering settlers in Jasper and Newton Counties.
Surviving are seven sons, Albert and George Jones, both of Kirbyville, Timothy Jones of Newton, John D Jones of Port Lavaca, Earl Jones of Vidor, Vergul Jones of Nederland and Harvey " Hob " Jones of Livingston; six daughters, Mrs. Carl Gilchrist of Roganville, Mrs Emma Hooks of Kirbyville, Mrs. Vivian Hooks of Livingston, Mrs. Henrietta "Etta" Pinner of Hunnington, Mrs. VerbaLee Turner of Nederland, Mrs A. V. Fuller of Newton; two brothers, Polk and Tommie Hawthorne of Port Arthur; four sisters, Mrs Hattie Martin of Bleakwood, Mrs Lizzie Hooks of Bleakwood, Mrs Leachie Day of Newton and Mrs Martha Norburg of Medford, Or; 37 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jones were held at Friendship Baptist Church with burial in the Friendship Cemetery near Roganville. Officiating was the Rev Frank Collins, assisted by the Rev Elmo Withers. Burial was under the direction of Causey's E E Funeral Home of Kirbyville. Her grandsons were Pallbearers.
