Funeral services for Etta "Ma" Pinner, 100, of the Rocky Hill Community will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Bobby Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.
Etta "Ma" Pinner, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went Home to be with her Lord Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at her home in the Rocky Hill Community. She was born to David Jones, Jr., and Iola (Hawthorne) Jones, an early pioneer family in the Roganville area of Jasper County, Texas, February 2, 1912, the 9th child of 14.
Mrs. Pinner moved to Angelina County in 1927 as the young bride of Reagan Pinner. She and Reagan lived in the Rocky Hill Community for 80 years, where they reared their six children. Their five sons all served in the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Pinner was a faithful and beloved member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Linda Pinner and Kenneth and Betty Pinner; daughter, Dorothy Oates; daughters-in-law Yvonne Pinner and Rose Pinner; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-great-grandchildren; brother Earl Jones; and sister and brother-in-law Verblee and Herbert Turner.
She was blessed to live and to enjoy 6 generations. Ma or Aunt Etta as she was called, had numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. She was greatly loved and respected in her community and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Reagan Pinner; sons, Archie Pinner, Jr., J.D. "Puncher" Pinner, and Mack Pinner.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Archie Pinner III, Ray Pinner, Jeff Pinner, Jarrod Pinner and Scott Stanford, and great-grandson, Cody Pinnner.
Her other grandsons and great-grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
