Harvey "Hob" Jones was born in Kirbyville, Texas to parents David Andrew Jones and Iola Hawthorne Jones.

He married Annie Elizabeth Cain on December 5, 1926. They were the parents of five children, two boys and three girls. Their children were Charles Ellery Jones, Muriel Dean Jones, Mary Beth Jones, Delores Jo Jones and Harvey Glenn Jones.

Hob and Annie bought land and build their home in the Segno community of Polk County. Hob worked as a logger in the timber industry and also farmed his land. Once he quit logging, Hob farmed and raise cattle on their farm. He and Annie would pick their produce and drive to Beaumont, Texas to sale it at the Farmers Market. They did this until they got up in age when the work was too physically hard on them to continue.

Hob was school board member for well over 20 years in the Big Sandy School District, Dallardsville, Texas. He was an avid fan of their basketball team and never missed a game.

Hob loved to hunt and fish and did so on the family hunting lease that bordered his farm. He was always glad to see his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they came to visit. His and Annie's home was the gathering place for many family get-togethers. He also never missed a family reunion of his Jones brothers and sisters in the Kirbyville area. It was always important to Hob for his children and grandchildren to go to that annual event every year. He always felt that families should stay close and not forget each other.

Hob always taught his children the importance of a higher education and encouraged all of them to not only get a high school degree, but to go to college if they could.

His later years slowed down because of his heart problems and a bout with cancer. He passed away after undergoing cancer treatment with stroke type symptoms.
