The family moved to Alvin, TX in 1925 where C.P. served as superintendent of Alvin ISD. He was ordained as a deacon by First Baptist Church Alvin in 1926. His brother William Alexander Strickland served there as pastor. Daughter Nan was born there in 1926. Later they moved to Arps, TX. He served as Superintendent of Schools nearby in Troup. There, their youngest child was born (living).
The family returned to Alvin about 1938. C.P. worked for the City of Alvin as City Secretary and Deputy Sheriff. He was active in the founding and construction of South Park Baptist Church in Alvin.
C.P. was a Mason and is buried in the Masonic section.
