Born in Huntsville,Tennessee January 28, 1917, he was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Byrge and Betty Ann Lowe Byrge;
Four sisters, Lillie Sexton, Ruth Crowley, Ivaleen Strunk, and Edna Howard; and four brothers, Walter Byrge, Carlie Byrge, Fred Byrge and Winfield Byrge.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Huntsville, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving his country during World War II.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet Sue Letson and husband, Charles, of Huntsville, Ala.; Two sons, Paul E. Byrge and wife, Sandra, of Huntsville, Ala., and Chuck Byrge and wife, Paula, of Pioneer;
He is survived by one brother, James Albert Byrge and wife, Pearlie, of Knoxville; One sister, Kathleen West and husband, Arnold of Huntsville;
seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted October 10, 2000 in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Jim West officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Memorial Cemetery in the Straight Fork community.
