Adelaide Mary Barnes was the daughter of Tracy P Barnes 1827 and Mary Prudence Cottrell.

Her parents lived in Alden, Erie, New York. Her father Tracy Barnes worked part time at the Wight or Wright Farm in Alden. Truman Albert Gillett, whom she later married, worked at the same farm. Truman became friends with her family, and lived with them in 1870.

When her family moved to Oshkosh Wisconsin, by boat to Milwaukee, then by train to Oshkosh, in 1871, Truman moved with them. Truman and Adelaide were married in Winneconne, Winnebago, Wisconsin on July 23, 1871. They lived in the Oshkosh area until 1879. There they had two children, Perry Tracy 1873 and Mary Mildred 1875. In 1879 Truman and Adelaide moved to Milltown, Shawano, along with her parents. In 1880 the township was moved from Shawano County to Langlade county and renamed the town of Rolling.

Truman and Adelaide lived in Rolling for the rest of their lives. They had 4 more children, Claude Wallace 1881, Libbie Jo 1886, Louis 1888-1888, and Elsie Melissa 1891.

History of children:

Perry Tracy Gillett 1873, married Jesse Antoinette Warner, lived in Rolling, Price, and Polar Wisconsin, and for a brief period in Minnesota. Six children.

Mary Mildred Gillett 1875, married Herman Heinrich Schroeder, lived in Rolling. Twelve children.

Claude Wallace Gillett 1881, married Mae Emily McNut, moved to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Bennett, South Dakota, then to East McKinley, Caddo, Oklahoma. Four children.

Libbie Jo Gillett 1886, married Charles Gilbert Maney, lived in Rolling, Price, Antigo, and Elcho in Langlade County. Ten children.

Louis Gillett 1888-1888. Burial unknown.

Elsie Melissa Gillett 1891, married Walton Swenton, who died in 1913, then married Chester A Karlson, moved to Tomahawk, Lincoln, Wisconsin. One child.
