She was born July 24, 1908, in Verona, Allegheny County, a daughter of the late William Jack Davis and Lula Mae Milliken Davis.
Delna was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Lincoln Club of Albion. She graduated from Albion High School and Edinboro Normal School and retired as a kindergarten teacher for the Northwestern and Conneaut Township school districts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Merl Sawdy, in 1997; two sisters, Helen Estelle Davis and Martha Elmira Shannon, and three brothers, Harold Nathaniel, Earl Kier and Frank Lloyd Davis.
Survivors include five children; William, of Cransville, Charles of Conneaut, Ohio, Larry and Joanne Strasser of Erie and Marjorie Lawrence of Albion: a sister, Margaret Ada Beery of Albion; 24 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
