About 1836, Jacob and Elizabeth Harshman and family followed Jacob's father, Matthias' earlier move to Lordstown Township, Trumbull County, OH. They settled on a small farm in the southeastern part of Lordstown Township, about a quarter mile west of what was known as Soaptown Corners. The log house faced north. The farm lay on a small brook, the Little Meander. It consisted of 50 acres, part of lot 14 in the Salt Spring Tract.
He was a Veteran of the War of 1812.
