Catherine Harshman Spriggs was the eldest child of Matthisa Hasshman and his wife Mary Smith Harshman she was born feb 11 1783 homestead on the tract "old fox Deceived" near Hagerstown, Maryland. when was 18 or 19 years old the family moved to Amwell Township , Washtown County ,Pa and it was doubless there she met and married Benjamin Spriggs, born about 1772 in New York . the 1810 census shows them still in Washington they had moved to Belmont co,ohio , where they are listed in Smith twp in 1820 and in Goshen twp, ln 1830, 1850, and 1860 Benjamin's will was made will was made september 14, 1859 and probated in Belmont co oh September 23, 1864
