George Jones mustered in Civil War with his brother, Samuel, on May 2, 1864. They were both captured at North Mountain WV on July 3, 1864. Both were sent to Andersonville Prison where Samuel died of starvation on Jan. 31, 1965.
George survived Andersonville and was sent to Camp Lawton, Millen GA on Nov. 11, 1864. He was exchanged at Savannah GA on Nov. 30, 1864 and died en-route home.
Andersonville and Camp Lawton were confederate prison camps.
