Roy, son of Addison and Emily (Peterson) Means, was born April 27, 1885, in Greenwood, Neb. He was the oldest of eight children. At an early age he came with his parents to Knoxville, which place had since been his home, the past 12 years being spent on a farm south of town.
On March 23, 1910, he was married to Miss Maude Ratcliff, who with one son Robert survives. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Emily Eiker and five sisters, Mrs. Harry (Viola) Frew, Mrs. Fred (Belle) Dredge, Mrs. Clarence (Pansye) Straub, Mrs. William (Frances) Wadham, and Mrs. Axel E (Alta) Edwardson. A brother and sister died in infancy.
He was a faithful member of the Knoxville Christian Church and held the position of chairman of the church board. Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm at the Knoxville Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Albert Nelson. Interment at Knoxville Cemetery.
