PHILLIPS SEVICES HELD GRIDLEY - Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Phillips, who died Tuesday at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, were held Thursday in the Gridley Christian Church and the burial was in the Gridley Cemetery. The Rev. Kendall Bates conducted the services and the singers were Mrs. Robert Hursh, Walter Mozingo, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mozingo, and the organist was Mrs. James Wyble. Pallbearers were Ivan Trimble, Clarence VanArsdale, John Isch, Arnold Kraft, Robert Hursh, and Vernon Beyer.
Mrs. Phillips was formerly Emily McCoy, and she was born Sept. 7th in Brice, Mo., a daughter of Hugh Robert and Melvina McCoy. She was married July 21st, 1921, in Eureka, and had lived in the Gridley community since 1927. She was a bookkeeper for many years for the Joseph Phillips Company. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of the home, one son, Lawrence, Coronado, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Pearl) Dressler, Gridley; Mrs. Earl (Eudena) Kleinsorge, Cottonwood Falls; and Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Decker, Coffeyville; one brother, Vaughn McCoy, Wichita; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Tannahill, Eureka, Mrs. Arthur Phillips, Hamilton; and Mrs. Guy Alsop, Independence; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
