Obituary in The State, Columbia, SC, 12 Aug 1972: Salley - W. L. Adams Sr., 85, died Thursday in Richland Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Adams was the son of the late W. E. and Victoria Adams. He was a deacon of the Salley Baptist Church for 25 years. He was a rtired warehouse manager of the Columbia Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Salley and also served as a member of the Salley School Board for a number of years. Graveside services will be in Salley-Oakview Cemetery today at 5 p.m. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Stillinger Adams of Salley; seven daughters, Mrs. Eugene Anderson of Toulon, Ill., Mrs. Earl Hallman of Springfield, Mrs. George Bigbee of Columbia, Mrs. Gyles Hall, Mrs. A. R. Williamson, Mrs. Olin Smith and Mrs. George M. Walker of Salley; four sons, James S. Adams of Aiken, William E., W. L. Jr. and Maxie Adams of Salley; three half-brothers, Fairey Adams of Greenwood, Bailey Adams of Norway, Hammond Adams of Columbia; and a half-sister, Mrs. Levy Mizelle Hoffman of Columbia. Baughman Funeral Home, Wagener, is in charge.
