Ada was born to Marvin and Bertha (White) Parker on March 11, 1917 in Crosbyton, Texas. She was a hairdresser for 55 years during which time she owned and operated three different beauty shops. She also had worked for two other beauty shops in Abilene between ownership of her shops. After her husband retired, she loved to travel with him in their RV. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 47 years. She had many hobbies including painting (in oils), weekly senior citizen workshops, attending church every Sunday, singing in nursing homes, quilting and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Vaughn (April 23, 1980); four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Tommy and Betty Lou Vaughn of Abilene, A.C. and Violet Vaughn of Abilene, and Jimmy and Judy Vaughn of Rockport, TX; daughter, Freda Casey of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Florence Elliott of Aztec, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, TX 79605 or Coronado Nursing Center, 1751 N. 15th, Abilene, TX 79603.
